Balance image size and visible quality
This tool reduces an image by limiting its width and using the selected output quality. The work happens in your browser. The original file is not changed, and each result is a separate download.
Resize before lowering quality too far
A 4000-pixel photo is unnecessary for many email messages and web pages. Reducing the dimensions often saves more space than aggressive compression while keeping faces and text cleaner. For email, a maximum width between 1200 and 2000 pixels is often enough.
Choose the output format
JPEG is widely compatible and works well for photographs. WebP can make smaller files in modern browsers. PNG is useful for screenshots, diagrams, and transparency, but photographic PNG files may remain large. Converting a transparent image to JPEG fills transparent areas because JPEG has no alpha channel.
Check the result at normal size
Look at faces, small writing, sharp edges, and smooth color changes. If you see blockiness or halos, raise the quality or use a larger width. Keep the original if the image may be printed or edited later.
