How we work
Testing and Editorial Policy
Our goal is to publish tools and explanations that help a visitor finish a real file task. We write for accuracy and practical use, including the situations where a conversion can lose information.
Tool checks
Before a converter is listed, we check a representative input file, the generated download, the displayed file name, and the error behavior for an incompatible file. Image checks include dimensions and transparency where relevant. Data checks include headers, delimiters, special characters, and common empty values. PDF checks include selectable text and a clear warning about scans and complex layouts.
Content standards
Guide pages explain a specific decision or workflow. We avoid claiming that one format is always best. Recommendations name the goal, the tradeoff, and the limitation. We use plain examples and link readers to the matching tool when it is useful.
Known limits and corrections
Browser capabilities change, and uncommon files can expose problems that a normal sample does not. When a limitation is known, we add it to the tool page or guide instead of hiding it. Pages display a review date when timing matters. Material changes to conversion behavior are checked before publication.
Advertising independence
Advertising helps support the site but does not determine which formats we recommend. We do not rank a file type or conversion method because an advertiser paid for placement. Ads are labeled and kept outside the converter controls.
Privacy claims
We describe a conversion as local only when the file processing happens in the visitor's browser. That statement applies to the file contents, not to all website traffic. Hosting, analytics, security, and advertising services may still receive normal technical request information as described in the privacy policy.
