How to Generate and Download a QR Code as PNG

A QR code PNG is easy to place in a document, website, sign, or social graphic. The most important steps are entering the correct destination and testing the final image at its intended size.

Create the QR code

  1. Open the QR code PNG generator.
  2. Enter the complete URL beginning with https://, or enter the exact message.
  3. Choose a size large enough for the final use.
  4. Generate and download the PNG.

Make it easy to scan

Keep dark squares on a light background, preserve the clear margin around the code, and avoid stretching the image. Longer text creates a denser code that needs to be printed larger.

Test before publishing

Scan the finished PNG from the actual document, screen, or printed sample using at least two phones. Check the destination carefully. A static QR code cannot be edited after download; changing the destination requires a new image.
